Dr. Adil Ahmed is a Fisheries and Marine Biologist and Fisheries and Environmental Consultant with more than 20 years of academic, research, and professional experience in fisheries science, marine biology, biological oceanography, fisheries management, marine and coastal ecosystems, environmental assessment, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. He is currently Head of Research and Development at Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS), Ajman, UAE, and Research Scientist at the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), Red Sea University, Sudan. His professional activities include research, environmental consulting, scientific writing, and sustainable marine and coastal resource management.

The Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf are among the most important marine environments in the Middle East. Their fisheries support food security, employment, household incomes, coastal communities, and local economies. Fish and other marine resources also contribute to cultural traditions and provide an important foundation for the region’s emerging blue economy.
